Jason is an attorney in the Litigation section. He has successfully handled jury trials, bench trials, mediations, arbitrations, and administrative hearings across Virginia. Jason has also effectively advocated his clients' causes before the state attorneys general and federal administrative tribunals and regulating agencies.  He was recognized in Virginia Business Magazine's Legal Elite in 2006 and 2007.

While in law school, Jason served on the Moot Court Board and the University of Richmond Law Review. He was named to the Order of the Barristers and received the International Academy of Trial Lawyers' Award for distinction in the field of trial advocacy.  Upon graduation, Jason served as a law clerk to Justice Donald W. Lemons of the Supreme Court of Virginia.

Relevant Experience:

  • Litigation: Jason has represented clients in products liability matters, including those dealing with catastrophic injury.  He has defended clients in matters pertaining to personal injury and the commission of intentional torts, and has represented both businesses and consumers in issues pertaining to Virginia's consumer laws. He has represented clients in construction and real estate matters generally, including litigation associated with easements and other land use matters. He has represented clients in employment matters and matters pertaining to intellectual property. Jason has actively represented students in administrative proceedings, and in matters pertaining to the protection of students' rights. Jason has represented clients in various domestic matters as well, primarily pertaining to issues of custody.
  • Alternative Dispute Resolution: Jason is a certified mediator and has represented parties in alternative dispute resolution.
  • Appeals: Jason has represented clients in various appellate matters before the Supreme Court of Virginia and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. He has also represented clients in appeals of regulatory decisions to the Circuit Court.
  • Government Enforcement: Jason has represented both individuals and businesses, public and private, in a wide variety of civil and criminal matters involving government enforcement efforts, including attorney general actions and issues pertaining to contracts with government agencies and departments. He has experience in privilege review and defense of privilege claims in the context of a $289 billion lawsuit under RICO statutes by the United States Department of Justice. Jason has also represented individuals in standard criminal proceedings ranging from minor drug offenses to homicide.
  • Administrative/Regulatory: Jason has represented clients before the Federal Communications Commission and the Virginia State Corporation Commission, as well as similar commissions of other states. His representation has included: telecommunications carriers in regulatory matters in several states regarding the Telecommunications Act of 1996 and associated arbitrations; regional incumbent local exchange carriers in regulatory, transactions, and corporate matters; and electric utilities and water companies in rate proceedings, acquisitions, affiliate matters, and other regulatory matters. Jason has represented clients in securing appropriate licenses, including the registration of charitable solicitors in all necessary states. Jason has worked on behalf of an automotive retailer and finance company to manage compliance issues in the areas of federal and state laws for motor vehicle retail financing, motor vehicle dealer law, electronic transactions, franchise law, marketing law, privacy, security and information management, and has advised on compliance programs for TILA, FCRA, GLB, and National Do Not Call Registry (FTC and FCC).
  • Government Affairs: Jason has represented clients in various lobbying efforts in Virginia and in other states. He has participated in legislative efforts on behalf of his clients including the setting and execution of strategy. Jason has significant experience in monitoring proposed legislation and regulations, and counseling his clients on potential consequences of such efforts. He has reviewed and drafted legislation and regulations. He also has experience managing relationships on behalf of businesses in national political associations.
  • Corporate: Jason has represented small and large businesses in acquisitions, as well as in the formation and drafting of routine business documents, including the negotiation and drafting of contracts. He has advised businesses in various personnel and procurement matters. Jason also has experience with aspects of corporate governance, as well as drafting and reviewing associated documents.
