
Benefits are an important part of the total compensation package at Hirschler Fleischer and ours is designed to benefit every member of the firm and support each individual's diverse needs. Our benefits package includes:
HEALTH AND DENTAL BENEFITS
We provide comprehensive medical and dental plans with options that allow attorneys to choose the benefits that are best for them and their family. Attorneys receive a contribution toward their medical and dental insurance.
- Medical Insurance - A choice of four Anthem plans are available, to include an open access HMO, open access POS, and PPO option. An additional HDHP is available to our principals and shareholders.
- Vision - Vision Service Plan includes benefits for routine eye examinations and discounts for glasses and contact lenses.
- Dental - Attorneys may choose among two dental plan options offered through Delta Dental, to include a PPO open access option and a value-added HMO alternative which has enhanced cost savings for in-network utilization.
LIFE AND DISABILITY INSURANCE
We provide a variety of life and disability insurance options to provide financial protection for our employees and their family members.
- Group Term Life Insurance - Attorneys are covered for basic group term life insurance through The Standard in an amount equal to one times base salary at no cost to the attorney.
- Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance - A supplemental accidental death and dismemberment benefit, equivalent to the amount of group life benefit, is provided through The Standard at no cost to the attorney.
- Supplemental Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance - Supplemental group life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment insurance coverage from The Standard is available to all attorneys, their spouses, and dependents on an optional basis. Premiums for this coverage are paid by the attorney.
- Short-Term Disability Insurance - Short-Term Disability benefits are provided to attorneys through a salary continuation plan at no cost to the attorney.
- Long-Term Disability Insurance - The firm offers Long-Term Disability coverage through The Standard with a benefit amount equal to 60% of basic monthly earnings. A supplemental disability plan is also provided to our attorneys, increasing their income replacement ratio amounts.
WORK LIFE BENEFITS
- Onsite Fitness Center - Attorneys have access to an onsite fitness center facility.
- Employee Assistance Program - The firm partners with REACH to provide attorneys and their family members with assistance for any personal or family problem. Services are available both telephonically and by appointment at confidential client service facilities near home or office.
- Flexible Scheduling - Hirschler Fleischer recognizes the challenges faced by attorneys attempting to balance the demands of both home and work and offers flexible scheduling where reasonable.
- Legal Fee Reimbursement - Certain types of legal services will be provided to attorneys without charge, including wills for employee and spouse up to $500, representation with respect to minor traffic offenses or adoption through an agency.
- Parking Subsidy - Parking arrangements are coordinated for attorneys and the expense for parking is shared by the firm and the attorney.
- Paid Holidays - Hirschler Fleischer provides eight and a half paid holidays each year. They are New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day After Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, and a half day for New Year's Eve.
- Paid Time Off - We provide paid vacation leave for all attorneys. The firm encourages attorneys to utilize this time to get away from the office and workload to ensure a balance between work and family.
Additional time is also offered to help balance work and family life, including bereavement leave, jury duty leave, community service leave, military leave, maternity leave (short-term disability), and family medical leave.
TAX SAVINGS PROGRAMS
We provide benefit programs that allow attorneys the opportunity to take advantage of tax-free and tax-deferral opportunities.
- Dependent Care Spending Accounts - Attorneys may set aside up to $5,000 per year through pre-tax payroll deductions for eligible dependent care expenses.
- Health Care Spending Accounts - Attorneys may set aside up to $3,000 through pre-tax payroll deductions for reimbursement of eligible medical expenses that are not reimbursable through insurance, including medical, dental, and vision co payments and coinsurance and qualified over-the-counter medical purchases.
- Health Savings Accounts - Qualifying attorneys participating in the HDHP, may establish a Health Savings Account to pay for current eligible medical expenses, as well as save for future qualified medical and retiree health expenses on a tax-free basis.
- 401(k) Contributions - Attorneys are eligible for participation in the firm's Retirement Plan, which includes a 401(k) salary deferral component with a firm match of up to 50% of the first 2% of participants' pay, a Roth 401(k) feature and a profit sharing component to which the firm contributes.
- 529 College Savings Plan - Associates can participate in a firm-sponsored 529 CollegeAmerica Savings Plan which allows for a tax-advantaged way to save for higher education
RETIREMENT
The firm sponsors a Retirement Plan and encourages participation.
- Profit-Sharing Plan - After completing one year of service, eligible employees participate in the Profit-Sharing component of the Plan on the next July 1 or January 1 following their anniversary date. Firm contributions are made to the Plan on behalf of participants. Graded vesting increases to 100% with six years of service.
- 401(k) Contributions - After completing 90 days of employment, employees may participate in the 401(k) salary deferral component of the Firm's Retirement Plan. Hirschler Fleischer will match up to 50% of the first 2% of participants' pay.
- Roth 401(k) Component - The plan also has a Roth 401(k) feature.
Participants choose from a wide range of investment options when investing their retirement funds and have access to an online automated system to assist with planning and selection.
PROFESSIONAL BENEFITS
- Professional Development - Continued professional development is encouraged and relevant Continuing Legal Education courses and bar activities are reimbursable. In-house training programs and seminars are also provided on a regular basis for our legal team.
- Bar Dues - The firm pays annual dues and membership fees for relevant bar admissions and associations.
- Associate Development and Mentoring Program - An associates development and mentoring program has been established to ensure the advancement and success of our attorney group. Associates are assigned a supervising attorney and a mentor outside of their area of practice who will work with them as they integrate into the firm and develop their practice.
- Associate's Committee - A representative group of associates work as a liaison with the management of the firm to advocate the needs of our associates.
- Professional Liability Insurance - The firm provides for professional liability insurance coverage to all attorneys.
- Framing Expenses - First-year associates are permitted an allowance for basic framing of degrees, certificates, etc.
